Material shader compilation failed

The external Slang compiler could not produce a valid target artifact. No replacement shader is returned; the host is responsible for retaining its last good shader and publishing successful replacements at an allowed frame boundary.

#Common causes

• slangc cannot be launched, or its -version probe fails.
• Generated or custom Slang fails compilation for SPIR-V or DXIL.
• Temporary source or output files cannot be written or read, or the output has an invalid target header or length.

#Fixes

• Set SLANGC to the compiler executable, or set VULKAN_SDK so its Bin directory supplies slangc.exe on Windows; verify slangc -version using that executable.

• Correct the Slang error reported in the compiler output, using generated source mappings to locate the material node or custom function.

• Restore access to the temporary directory and retry the offline cook with a working compiler for the requested target.
