Invalid material domain usage
The material uses an operation or output unavailable in its domain, or a projection received a non-material graph. Domain checking fails and no checked shader can be generated; a parseable authoring draft may remain available for repair.
Common causes
- An operation is restricted to another domain, such as a UI-only operation used in a surface material.
- The material has no outputs or names an output that its domain does not expose.
- A graph supplied to the material adapter belongs to another domain.
Fixes
Edit the material text to use operations and output fields supported by its declared domain, then apply it with
material.text.apply.Add at least one valid domain output, or select the intended material domain and update its outputs accordingly.
Send the material adapter a material graph rather than another graph document.
