External file is invalid

A new or changed file cannot be accepted as a valid document. A new document is not loaded; for an already loaded document, the host keeps its previous in-memory version and suspends writes to the diverged file.

#Common causes

• The external edit contains JSON, schema, reference or structural errors.
• A new file reuses the asset ID of an already loaded document.

#Fixes

• Run ara check <file>, fix the reported errors or duplicated asset identity, and save again so the watcher can load it.

• To discard an invalid disk edit deliberately, call doc.sync with the loaded doc and keep: "memory"; this overwrites the external file with the retained document.
