MSVC toolchain not found

The vswhere probe did not return an installation with Microsoft.VisualStudio.Component.VC.Tools.x86.x64. Doctor marks the Windows compiler/linker prerequisite as missing.

Common causes

  • Build Tools is installed without the x64 C++ tools, or vswhere failed to query it.

Fixes

  • Run winget install Microsoft.VisualStudio.2022.BuildTools --override '--add Microsoft.VisualStudio.Workload.VCTools --includeRecommended --passive', then rerun ara-export doctor --platform windows.

  • Ensure the installation includes the Windows SDK needed by the NativeAOT linker.
