Java runtime unavailable

The Android toolchain needs Java 17 or later to run the signing and bundle tools. Doctor could not verify that version, or packaging could not find java.

Common causes

  • JAVA_HOME/bin/java and PATH do not provide a usable Java 17+ executable.

Fixes

  • On Windows, run winget install Microsoft.OpenJDK.17; set JAVA_HOME to the JDK root or make its bin directory available on PATH.
